4. Selection of transportation tools: The conditions for fruit transportation are relatively complex, with some varieties afraid of the cold and others afraid of the heat. Multiple fruits require a transportation temperature of 0-4 ℃. Bananas are best kept at 12-14 ℃ to maintain good quality. Some soft and juicy fruits have very low resistance to mechanical damage. The main forms of preservation and transportation used are:

(1) Iced insulation vehicle. According to the theory of ice and salt refrigeration, the minimum temperature for ice and salt refrigeration can reach -21.2 ℃. However, practice has confirmed that ice and salt mixtures are used for cooling in ice and salt insulated vehicles. When the external temperature is 25 ℃, the minimum temperature inside the vehicle can only be maintained at around -8 ℃. In China, B11 roof type refrigerator insulated vehicles are the main type of ice and salt insulated vehicles. It has six saddle shaped refrigerators evenly distributed on the roof, each refrigerator is divided into two ice slots, and three ice slots on each side are connected, sharing a drainage device, So there are two drains on each side. Each refrigerator has a capacity of 1.7 cubic meters, and the entire vehicle can carry a total of 10.2 cubic meters of ice. Approximately 6-8 tons, the carriage is equipped with thermal insulation material polystyrene, floor joists at the bottom, and ventilation wooden strips on the side and end walls to facilitate the circulation of cold air inside the car and maintain a uniform temperature inside. When the ice insulation vehicle melts to a certain extent during transportation, ice needs to be added. Therefore, ice stations should be set up every 350-600 kilometers along the railway line, with ice adding platforms, salt storage warehouses, and other equipment inside the station, or movable ice adding vehicles. Based on the experience of the commercial department in Guangdong, the B8 rooftop ice and insulation vehicle is used to fill all six refrigerators. At an average external temperature of 25-30 ℃, the cooling process consumes 1.8-2.0 tons of ice within 24 hours, and the ice consumption will be around 0.8 tons every 24 hours thereafter. The interior temperature of the B8 model is generally relatively stable.

(2) Mechanical refrigerated trucks. The railway transportation vehicles using mechanical refrigeration include B16, B17, B19, B18, B20, etc. The B16 type mechanical refrigeration vehicle group consists of 23 vehicles, while the B17 type consists of 12 vehicles, all of which are centralized power generation and refrigeration. The B19, B18, and B20 mechanical refrigerated trucks are centrally powered, with each truck individually cooled and equipped with a fan inside to circulate the air and increase cooling efficiency. They are composed of 10, 5, and 9 vehicles to form a fleet. The mechanical refrigerated truck has fast cooling and good cooling effect. It has an electric heater for heating, making it easy to achieve automatic control. There is no need to add ice midway, and the transportation speed is fast.

(3) Open car transportation with ice. At present, in China's transportation, due to the insufficient use of ice insulation vehicles and mechanical refrigerated vehicles, the main use is to place ice piles, break ice walls, or clip ice inside the gondola, and then cover the bottom and four sides of the vehicle with mats such as straw bags and cotton quilts. We usually call it "soil insulation vehicles".

(4) Cold proof vehicle transportation. Cold transportation is a method of transporting fruits in the north during winter. If the external temperature is above -5 ℃, box cars can be used for cold transportation. Use a 2-3 centimeter thick chaff mat on the bottom of the car, hang grass curtains on the car walls, and cover the goods with grass curtains to prevent frost damage. If the external temperature is not lower than -15 ℃ and the transportation time is within 7 days, a refrigerated truck with a cold protection device can be used. At this time, the drainage pipe can be blocked with straw, and the floor should be covered with straw. Due to the high risk of freezing damage on the corners of the car, the straw should be laid thicker.
